Dé klassieken na Aberlour met een cask strength van maar liefst 59 % maar zeeg geconcentreed van smaak én ondanks de sterkte niet scherp Aberlour A' Bunadh Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky. From Batch No. 25 this non chill-filtered Malt was bottled straight from the cask The name 'A'Bunadh' is Gaelic for 'the origin' and this Aberlour expression is a nod in the direction of the whisky-makers of old, being bottled at cask strength, with no chill-filtering or addition of water. It is an after-dinner dram for the lover of Sherried malts, as all the casks vatted together for each 'batch' formerly contained Sherry, mostly of the Oloroso variety. The most recent batch of A'Bunadh is number 22, and the strength of each has varied, with the initial batch from 2000 being bottled at 59.6%. The whisky carries no age statement. The nose is rich and full, with very obvious notes of Sherry, plus furniture polish, nutty malt, ripe eating apples and a distinct whiff of smoke. Big-bodied in the mouth, intensely Sherried and fruity, with more apples, nuts and smoke, plus ginger and a hint of cocoa. The finish is long and warming, with honey, spices, some peat and plain chocolate.
